Something that needs to be understood, when playing double bass for extended periods of time and at high tempos, it's impossible to play without triggers. Naive guitar players and opinionated jackasses on the Internet like to have opinions they know nothing of. The faster you get the beater will swing less, causing less attack on the kick, this causing less volume. Hence the need for triggers.
